Inunnguaq
Icon of Hope
Share a lasting Gift of Hope and Recognition to the one who inspired you.
The Card Inside Your Icon of Hope Box
We will donate $1 for each Icon of Hope that you purchase to Big Brothers Big Sisters.
You are very special to me. And these
stones express how I feel about you
and how you have helped me.

To complete your gift, open the burlap sack
and stack the stones similar to the icon above.
These stones are called INUNNGUAQ
(pronounced EEN-NON-WOK). They are
used by the Inuit people of the icy tundra of
Northern Canada. Stacked stones “in the shape
of a man” - the meaning of Inunnguaq - are a
landmark and survival guide for travelers on
a journey.

They are placed from one horizon to the next.
The Inuit erect these stones out of love for
fellow travelers - people they may never know.
They say, “You are on the right path...you are
not alone.”
Like the Inunnguaq, you have been a symbol
of inspiration by being a pinnacle of hope on
a distant horizon.  You have shown me the way
on my life journey.  Maybe you didn’t know
that you were there for me; but I will remember
how you were; forever. These stones are for
you in honor of your sacrifice for me.

Your entire package is made of recyclable natural materials - a cardboard box, a burlap sack, a paper card, and six pieces of hand-hewn granite.

The Icon of Hope as a Landmark

When someone sees the Icon of Hope in your home or office, tell them they are in an envirnoment of love and caring. Your place will feel like a safe harbor.

Every time you see an Icon of Hope, you’ll be reminded that someone has been recognized as a guide, mentor or hero in another’s life. It will be your moment to pause and remember those who've influenced you.

How to Share Your Gratitude

When they receive your gift, they will open the box and read the card. If you are present, watch their face and see the reflection of gratitude. Now tell them what they mean to you and give an example of how they helped you along the way. Tell them they have become an Icon of Hope for you.

Give a gift that means something. Give a gift that lasts.

Share a Gift of Hope and recognition to the one who inspired you.

Be a landmark of love and guidance for others.

Be and share an Icon of Hope!

Who’s Your Inunnguaq?

The Inuit people of Northern Canada build stone structures to point the way across desolate tundra and ice. Sometimes built in the shape of a man, they are called Inunnguaq. These stone sentinels can save a life on the harsh, frozen landscape where few survive alone.
No Judgment, Only Love

We all have people in our lives who selflessly help us at one time or another. We call them mentors and guides. They are people of influence whose example and leadership have helped us adapt and find our way. Some of these people never know how they quietly helped us; but they did and we will never forget them for it.

Like Inunnguaq, they pointed the way to safety or success, completion or fulfillment—no judgment, just love. These are the kind of souls who understand we’re all on a journey. They give us hope. They inspire us to keep going. Because of them, we know we’re not alone.

Give this Solid Gift of Gratitude

Made from granite, your small Inunnguaq statue becomes a lasting expression of your gratitude for their presence in your life. Your token of appreciation in this gift symbolizes how they have become an Icon of Hope for you.

Your Icon of Hope is a tasteful, scaled-down replica of an Inunnguaq guide. Standing about five inches tall, your gift of appreciation will be constructed by the very hands that once helped you.

In future days, when your select person of influence looks at the Inunnguaq they received from you, they will remember how your paths crossed, reflect on their contribution to your life and remember your gratitude.

One Million Icons of Hope

As more and more people begin to recognize the power and importance of this great symbol, the expression of gratitude and the recognition of those who help others out of love will spread. One million is just the threshold for real influence to catch hold in our world. We believe it’s the tipping point to a better place to live.

You Can Help Big Brothers Big Sisters

We donate $1 for every Icon of Hope given to another. This goes to Big Brothers, Big Sisters, a charitable organization connecting mentors and guides to young people in need of positive direction. With you, we can help
a child survive the harsh landscape of a rough beginning.
